Manassas resident William Alexander Cruz Escobar is facing charges after detectives concluded an investigation involving he and a child who was known to him at the time.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, earlier this week, Cruz Escobar was taken into custody following a probe into a sexual assault that was reported to have occurred in Manassas in February 2018.
Investigators say that the victim, who was under the age of 12 at the time, was inappropriately touched by a man known to her, and the victim recently reported the incidents to the police.
Following the investigation, warrants for Cruz Escobar were issued and he turned himself in on Wednesday, Nov. 6, where he was charged with aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties by a custodian.
Bond information was unavailable on Friday afternoon and his next court date is pending.
